How to apply blush and bronzer without foundation?

Ok,so i do not like wearing foundation bc it just rubs off,feels nasty,etc.But sometimes i do want to use some blush and/or bronzer to accentuate my face.So,how can i apply it and make it stick without foundation,and also,what parts of the face are they supposed to be applied? Like i know blush should go on the apples of your cheeks and bronzer should go on your cheebones,but when i do that i always feel like the blush looks like a cartoon girl and the bronzer makes me look like i have sideburns!
