Did 1980's rap suck because they talked different?

Someone asked a question about accents or something and I was thinking that 1980s rap isn't that popular with real hip hop because in the 1980's they way people spoke were more fluent and pronounced very accentuated so they rapped that way.In the 1990's rap got BETTER when the way people spoke got more wordly and less accentuated?
